Ear stacks are the perfect accessory for any look and occasion, so we’re here with the perfect guide to help you build your dream one!
Consider New Piercings
Firstly, you could consider getting new piercings to build your dream ear stack. If you currently only have one or two piercings and you’re looking at ear stack inspiration that has much more, then perhaps pick out one or two and get them pierced. We wouldn’t recommend many more than this at a time, just in case something does get infected, plus if you get a cartilage piercing on both sides of your ears it can be hard to sleep! If you don’t want to get new piercings, then you could also consider getting an ear cuff, which is a great way to add more jewellery and drama without needing to commit to new piercings if you’re not quite ready. If you’re not 100% convinced on one of the piercings, why not try some clip ons first to see if it creates the look you’re after?
Mix Subtle Pieces with Statements
Mixing subtle pieces with more statements is a great way to create a dreamy ear stack. Having too many statement pieces will look and feel heavy on the ears, so perhaps pick around 50% of your earrings to be a statement and then 50% that are more subtle and dainty. If you want something much more dramatic that’s great and you go for it! However for many people they want something a bit more balanced, in which case, this will work great.
Don’t Forget The Power of Earring Charms
Buying a whole new ear stack can be expensive, so one of our favourite hacks is to use earring charms. You might have your core earrings that you wear, such as different sized hoops and huggie hoop earrings in your lobes and then studs further up. You could keep it really simple in the daytime or for work with your plain hoops, or perhaps some of them have a bit of texture or sparkle. Then, instead of having to buy whole earrings, simply invest in some different earring charms and then you can mix and match to create so many different stunning combinations and looks! This is a really easy and more affordable way to get the most out of your earring stacks.
Follow A Cascading Style
When you’re building your ear stack, a good way to keep it balanced is to have your daintier pieces at the top of your ear, then as you gradually move down, they can get more dramatic. So, on your helix and conch, you might have more simple and dainty studs and hoops, then in the middle go for something more statement for your daith earrings and orbital, then finally go to town with your bigger hoops and earring charms in your lobes. This will help to protect your cartilage earrings as they are better suited to smaller earrings as well as creating balance.
